More than half of our nation’s streams and rivers are in poor condition, unfit for swimming, drinking or fishing.

After a decade of uncertainty created by the Supreme Court and the previous administration, the Obama administration finalized a rule to protect 60 percent of the nation’s streams and millions of acres of wetlands including the drinking water supplies for more than 117 million Americans.

Unfortunately, the President is determined to put the interests of polluters ahead of clean water, including the quality of the water your family drinks. Even though President Trump said on the campaign that all Americans need “crystal clear and clean water,” he has signed an Executive Order that dismantles the Clean Water Rule, which protects the drinking water for one in three Americans. Not only that, but this Executive Order will harm small businesses and people in communities across the nation who rely on streams and wetlands for clean water.

Polluting industries, despite the huge concessions made to them in the final rule, are doing everything they can to repeal the whole rule. And they’ve got their friends in Congress doing their bidding, so they can easily dump waste in our waterways. That’s why it’s critical that we all stand up now to protect our clean water!

Please send a message to your Senator urging him or her to stand strong against dirty water attacks and defend the Clean Water Rule.

Your message:

Thank you for standing up for clean water

Dear Senator,

The Clean Water Rule will ensure that current and future generations of Americans, including me, will be able to enjoy our cherished waters knowing that they are safe and protected from toxic pollution.

Nearly 117 million Americans rely on drinking water from sources that, until EPA's Clean Water Rule was finalized, were not definitively protected under the Clean Water Act. Now scores of families across the country can rest assured that the water they drink from is indeed safe and protected from toxic pollution.

President Trump has now begun the process of repealing this necessary rule, even though the rule is currently on hold while it receives a careful and objective review in federal court. I hope that you will stand strong against this attack and speak out against any action that undermines this rule or jeopardizes clean water.

Sincerely,
