Save the wolverine from extinction!

No more than 300 wolverines remain in the continental United States. Your help could bolster their survival.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has reopened the public comment period on a proposed rule to list the North American wolverine as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. Tell the FWS to save the wolverine from extinction!
In the United States, wolverines once ranged from Maine to Washington state, living in snowy alpine habitat in the Rocky Mountains as far south as northern New Mexico, in the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.
But after more than a century of trapping and habitat loss, wolverines in the lower 48 exist only in small, fragmented populations in Idaho, Montana, Washington, Wyoming and northeast Oregon. Now climate change threatens to further shrink the wolverine’s diminishing habitat.
Despite the wolverine’s precarious situation—and against scientists’ recommendations—in 2014 the FWS reversed its earlier decision to protect wolverines under federal law.
But we fought back. Earthjustice successfully challenged the agency’s decision to withdraw a “threatened” listing for the wolverine under the Endangered Species Act.
And that’s where you come in. Wolverines continue to face threats from habitat fragmentation, isolation and climate change.
The FWS needs to hear from YOU today so the wolverine has a fighting chance at survival. Your voice gives hope for this icon of our remaining wilderness.
