The Trump EPA wants to make America’s waters burn again, and Earthjustice needs your help to fight back. President Trump’s EPA is undertaking a major rollback of the Clean Water Act that would put one-fifth of all streams and half of wetlands nationwide at risk.
We have a right to clean, safe water. Take action today — tell the EPA to protect clean water by rejecting this “Dirty Water Rule”!
The Dirty Water Rule aims to eliminate protections for thousands of waterbodies across the nation, including rules against dumping pollutants into waters and wetlands. This attack would gut our nation’s water protections to benefit corporate interests, putting their profits before our health. Scientists are rejecting it, the public doesn’t want it, and the law won’t allow it. But President Trump and his industry cronies now running the EPA are charging forward anyway.
Tell the EPA to stop this dangerous rollback before it’s too late.
If you have one or more of these types of waterbodies in your area, it may be at risk from this newest attack on clean water safeguards:
*Wetlands or ponds, bogs, and swamps
*Streams, small rivers, lakes, and ponds that are dry part of the year
*Waters such as “washes” or “desert washes” that naturally fill with water during a rainy season
*Bodies of water separated from one another with human-made barriers like dams and levees
The bottom line: The Dirty Water Rule will result in fewer protections for the streams and wetlands that feed into our water supplies. The water millions of us drink will be dirtier and less safe, vital habitats and wildlife will lose critical protections, and we could have less access to water-based recreation, such as fishing and swimming. All this so corporate interests that make us sicker and less safe can grow bigger and wealthier.
